Memory Project Brings Joy To Less Fortunate


Congressman Owens Announces Congressional Art Competition

Washington –   Congressman Bill Owens today announced that he is currently accepting submissions from high school students in New York’s 3rd Congressional District for an annual Congressional Art competition.

Interested students can obtain more information by emailing: NY23.art@mail.house.gov or sean.magers@mail.house.gov. One winner will be chosen to have his or her submission sent to Washington, D.C. to be displayed for one year as part of the national student art exhibition in the U.S. Capitol. Ten finalists will also have their art displayed in Rep. Owens’ district offices throughout Upstate New York. Also required for submission is a completed student information and release form. A reception will be held in the Cannon Caucus Room of the U.S. House of Representatives to honor the winners. All travel and lodging arrangements are the responsibility of the winners and their guests.


CRITERIA

• Artwork must be two dimensional
• Each piece can be no larger than 28”x28”x 4” (28 inches high, 28 inches wide, and 4 inches deep) including the frame. Artwork cannot weigh more than 15 lbs.
• Each entry must be original in concept, design, and execution and may not violate any U.S. copyright laws. Any entry that has been copied from an existing photo (not the student’s own), painting, graphic, advertisement, or any other work produced by another person is a violation of the competition rules and will not be accepted. Work entered must be in the original medium (that is, not a scanned reproduction of a painting or drawing).

Mitchelson Judges Fulton Art Association's annual art show

The Fulton Art Association will be hosting a High School Invitational Art Show Saturday, March 1 from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Sunday, March 2 from noon to 4:30 p.m. in the Community Room of the Fulton Municipal Building at 141 S First St., Fulton.



Fulton graduate, Matt Hill, has art show at Buffalo State College Library

Matt Hill, a 2004 graduate of G. Ray Bodley High in Fulton, has just had his Senior One-Man Art Show at the Butler Library located on the campus of Buffalo State College. Hill completed four years at Buffalo State majoring in art & design and art education.
